CALL FOR WORKSHOPS & SPECIAL SESSIONS

IEEE AIVR 2020 invites proposals for workshops and special sessions to be held on either of the conference dates (Dec 14-18). Special sessions will be integrated into the main technical program similar to regluar sessions. Workshops will run in parallel to the afternoon program of the conference.

Workshops

Workshops offer a chance to discuss topics related to AR/VR and AI more focussed, explore new research directions and novel applications, and provide excellent opportunities for networking.

Formal workshop proposals should include the following elements:

• Title and acronym of the workshop
• Expected duration
• Description of the workshop topic, and a draft version of CFP (not exceeding 500 words)
• Short description on how the organizers plan to attract quality submissions
• Preliminary list of invited speakers (if any)
• Past records (if any)
• Short bio of the organizers (up to 200 words)
• Tentative program committee
• Contact information of the organizers (including name, affiliation, mailing address, and e-mail address)

After a workshop proposal is accepted, the organizers should create a Web page for the workshop and notify the workshop chairs of its URL. The main conference web site will provide a link to each workshop. Accepted workshop papers will be published in the conference proceedings by IEEE Computer Society Press and inculded in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

Special sessions

In addition to workshops, IEEE AIVR will also feature special sessions on dedicated topics related to the conference (see Call for Papers). Special sessions will take place as part of the main technical program of the conference and can feature paper presentation, invited and keynote talks, panels, or any other kind of suitable presentation. Duraction should be about the same as a regular paper session. Special session organizers are expected to recruit submissions, invite speakers, and take other related actions to organize their sessions. Papers and abstracts from invited talks can be included into the conference proceedings (published by IEEE Computer Society) if they are reviewed by at least two reviewers (reviews by the special session organizers are sufficient).

If you are interested in hosting a special session or a workshop at IEEE AIVR 2020, we recommend that you get in touch with co-chair Wolfgang Hürst via email (huerst@uu.nl) as soon as possible. We are happy to discuss ideas with you, assist in the process, and get you in touch with people planning potentially overlapping events at AIVR.

IMPORTANT DATES

• Submission deadline for workshop & special session proposals: May 15, 2020
• Notifications: about two weeks after submission of your proposal; see footnote (*)
• Submission deadline for workshop papers: TBD
  (likely late Sep or early Oct; the deadline for camera ready papers will be end of October)
• Conference: December 14-16, 2020
  (workshops will take place on either of these days; concrete date TBD together with program co-chairs)

(*) We will directly verify your proposal once you submit it. Thus, earlier notifications are possible, which would also give you more time to set up and advertise your workshop. We therefore encourage earlier submissions.
