CALL FOR WORKSHOPS & SPECIAL SESSIONS

Workshops

The Second IEEE International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality (IEEE AIVR2019) will take place in San Diego, California, USA, on December 9-11, 2019. The conference will provide a unique event, addressing researchers and industries from all areas of AI as well as Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality. It offers an international forum for the exchange between these fields, to present advances in the state of the art, to identify emerging research topics, and to jointly define the future of these exciting research domains.
IEEE AIVR 2019 invites proposals for half- or full-day workshops to be held on either of the conference dates (Dec 9-11; concrete date TBD). Workshops are expected to focus on new research directions and novel applications of AR/VR, Mixed Reality and AI.

Workshop proposals should be submitted in plain text or PDF by email to Workshop Chairs via aivr@uci.edu, and must include the following elements:

• Title and acronym of the workshop
• Duration (full-day or half-day)
• Description of the workshop topic, and a draft version of CFP (not exceeding 500 words)
• Short description on how the organizers plan to attract quality submissions
• Preliminary list of invited speakers (if any)
• Past records (if any)
• Short bio of the organizers (up to 200 words)
• Tentative program committee
• Contact information of the organizers (including name, affiliation, mailing address, and e-mail address)

After a workshop proposal is accepted, the organizers should create a Web page for the workshop and notify the workshop chairs of its URL. The main conference web site will provide a link to each workshop.

Special sessions

In addition to workshops, this year's IEEE AIVR will also feature special sessions on dedicated topics related to the conference (see Call for Papers). Special sessions will take place as part of the main technical program of the conference and can feature paper presentation, invited and keynote talks, panels, or any other kind of suitable presentation. Duraction should be about the same as a regular paper session. Special session organizers are expected to recruit submissions, invite speakers, and take other related actions to organize their sessions. Papers and abstracts from invited talks can be included into the conference proceedings (published by IEEE Computer Society) if they are reviewed by at least two reviewers (reviews by the special session organizers are sufficient).

• Short description on what kind of submissions the organizers are planning to attract and how
• Preliminary list of invited speakers (if any)
• Past records (if any)
• Short bio of the organizers (up to 200 words)
• Tentative program committee
• Contact information of the organizers (including name, affiliation, mailing address, and e-mail address)

After a special session proposal is accepted, the organizers should create a call that will be posted on the IEEE AIVR website.

Accepted workshop papers and special session papers will be published in the conference proceedings by IEEE Computer Society Press and inculded in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

 

IMPORTANT DATES

• Submission deadline for workshop & special session proposals: July 26, 2019
  Due to various requests because of the vacation season, the deadline has been extended to August 9, 2019
• Notifications: about two weeks after the deadline
• Submission deadline for workshop papers: TBD
  (deadline for camera ready papers is end of October)
• Conference: December 9-11, 2019 (workshops will take place on either of these days)
