CALL FOR DEMOS & VIDEO PRESENTATIONS

We invite researchers and practitioners to submit extended abstracts of systems and working prototypes as Demos, Industry Demos, or Video Demos. Submissions should demonstrate how the technology of AI and VR/AR could be used to generate experiences that allow humans to see, hear, talk, think, learn, and solve problems in virtual and augmented environments. The purpose of the demonstrations/video submissions is to give IEEE AIVR attendants a real, practical, and interactive idea of the presenters' research ideas, scientific contributions, or engineering solutions in an interactive setting. All kinds of demonstrations of working systems, prototypes, video visions, or proof-of-concepts that demonstrate new solutions, interesting ideas, or new applications of AI and VR/AR systems and applications are welcome.

We strongly encourage submissions that demonstrate both AI and VR/AR simultaneously, but also welcome works that focus more on one side or the other. We prefer demo to video submissions, but offer this option to address system portability issues.

Potential topics include but are not limited to:

  • Artificial Intelligence and machine learning in VR/AR
  • Digital VR/AR games
  • Communication between humans and AI
  • Affective human-virtual world interaction
  • Design of emotionally intelligent AI agent in VR/AR
  • AI Based Customization, recommender systems and personalisation in VR/AR
  • Information visualisation in VR/AR space
  • Affective ambient intelligence in mixed realities
  • AI based emotion mediated communication in VR/AR
  • Tools for authoring emotional intelligence in VR/AR
  • Multimodal interfaces in VR/AR
  • Human-human emotional communication in VR/AR
  • AI platforms for VR/AR, cloud-based platforms
  • AI/VR/AR visions
  • Multimodal AI Interaction and Experiences in VR/AR
  • Gaming and game narratives, immersive AI storytelling and gameplay
  • Other Emerging Trends (Learning, Health, Collaboration, Manufacturing, etc.)

Accepted demos will be published in the conference proceedings by IEEE Computer Society Press and inculded in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

We encourage authors of regular paper submissions to submit associated demos. If this is the case, please submit the extended abstract where you also indicate the submission ID of the corresponding regular paper.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Authors and presenters of demonstrations and industry demonstrations must submit:

  • [Required] An extended abstract (in conference paper format) summarizing their demonstration. The abstracts of accepted demonstrations will be citable and published in the conference proceedings. Page limit is two pages including references. Please refer to the Call for Papers on the website for templates. Submissions SHOULD NOT be blind.
  • [Required] Requirement document illustrating what will be shown at the demo session (with floor plan and requirements list if applicable).
  • [Optional] We recommend submitting a short video (mp4 or mkv format) illustrating the demonstration (max. 3 min) but other files are fine (e.g., a PDF pictorial, screenshots, photos, or other forms of illustration). Submit these materials via a downloadable link (e.g., Dropbox) which should be provided on EasyChair submission site.

Authors and presenters of video-only demos must submit:

  • [Required] An extended abstract (in conference paper format) summarizing their demonstration. The abstracts of accepted demonstrations will be citable and published in the conference proceedings. Page limit is two pages including references. Please refer to the Call for Papers on the website for templates. Submissions SHOULD NOT be blind.
  • [Required] A movie should be clear, HD, succinct, clearly illustrate the technical research merits, have rights access to any copyrighted material (visual or audio), be 5 minutes maximum and in mp4 or mkv format. Submit materials via a downloadable link (e.g., Dropbox). Please provide the link on EasyChair submission site.

Demo submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Curated based on availability of resources such as space and environment setup.
  • Relevance to the topic of the conference.
  • What is the scientific or engineering concept behind the work?
  • What is the novel or innovative aspect?
  • What makes it interesting for showing to the AIVR attendants?
  • It is recommended that the submitted files reflect the answers to these questions. Notice that these criteria are not exclusive. We aim at having a manifold and interesting demo session addressing all kinds of multimedia related issues. Thus, work that lacks in novelty, but demonstrates important aspects about multimedia is also welcome, as are initial implementations of preliminary but innovative, new ideas.

Paper Submission System: Please submit your demo to AIVR via EasyChair
