IEEE AIVR 2020 is happy to announce the following workshops, which will take place during the conference (Dec 14-18; concrete days TBD).

Workshop submissions will undergo a thorough peer review by members of international program committees assembled by the workshop organizers. Accepted workshop contributions will be include in the conference proceedings published by IEEE Computer Society Press and included in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Workshops will be integrated into the main conference and are included in each conference registration.
AIXR - Ethics in AI & XR
As XR content diversifies and makers target everyday applications of these technologies, ethical questions about content creation and its impact on users' wellbeing become more poignant. Artificial intelligence is an important driver of immersive media, and we need to understand and be able to foresee its role in framing ethical guidelines for content creators, developers, distributors, and users of XR.
In this 2nd Workshop on Ethics in AI and XR (AIXR) we wish to create a platform for researchers, XR makers and interested parties to share the state of the art, new research and thoughts on the ethical challenges and opportunities raised by the intersection of AI with immersive media systems.
We invite papers that approach AI and XR from the theoretical as well as from the applied research angle and that address, but are not limited to the creation and impact of AI onto the users of immersive systems.

CRDH - From Capture to Rendering of Digital Humans for AR/VR
Realistic representation of digital humans in AR/VR applications is only made possible with the capture of high-quality data and appropriate rendering techniques. While capturing of accurate and relightable data is required to produce assets for realistic avatars, we also need real-time performance capture to ensure success of applications like teleconference and teleportation. On the other side, rendering of photo-real humans is even more important to the immersive experience in virtual scenes. The workshop From Capture to Rendering of Digital Humans for AR/VR (CRDH) provides a platform to share some of the most advanced human face/body capturing systems from pore-level high resolution capture to rapid motion capture along with the art of data processing. It will also cover novel rendering along with environment lighting estimation techniques required in AR/VR, like neural rendering. We expect that the workshop will inspire novel ideas based on current practices in the field of rendering realistic digital humans and accelerate the hardware and software development in the same field.

ImAna - Workshop on Immersive Analytics
Immersive analytics (IA) is an interdisciplinary research field that uses VR/AR to create truly immersive and interactive representations of big data for a better analysis and understanding. In this Immersive Analytics workshop (ImAna), we want to explore the state of the art in IA, identify problems and major challenges, and look into recent improvements and promising ideas. We are particulary interested in examples that show how AI and VR/AR can be brought together to create and improve IA.

MARCH - Modeling and Animating Realistic Crowds and Humans
Digital humans are key aspects of the rapidly evolving areas of virtual reality, augmented reality, virtual production, and gaming. They are becoming more and more commonly used for entertainment, education, health, security, and many other purposes. Modeling and animating digital humans are still challenging tasks that may lead to uncanny results if not properly achieved. Creating crowds and groups of digital humans adds another layer of complexity. The objective of this 2nd Workshop on Modeling and Animating Realistic Crowds and Humans (MARCH) is to present the state of the art and new research perspectives on three key challenges: modeling digital humans, animating them, and creating groups/crowds of realistic autonomous characters. The workshop aims to establish a new platform for the development of virtual human technology at the intersection of Artificial intelligence (AI) and Virtual reality (VR). We expect that the workshop will provide an opportunity for researchers to develop new techniques, and will lead to new collaboration among the participants.
Extended reality (XR) is a new but rapidly evolving area of research in medical image analysis. Advanced 3D imaging technologies and software methods have been proposed for surgical planning, practice and education for a few years now; and are more recently making their way into radiology imaging for cancer visualisation and parametric localisation of tumors. XR algorithms combined with head-mounted displays have a potential to completely transform clinical practice and influence every aspect of patient management and treatment pathways. They would enable clinicians to interact with real-time data in real space, while clinical information could be superimposed on reconstructed extended reality models. The workshop Extended Reality in Medical Imaging (XRMI) is presented as a part of the 3rd IEEE AIVR conference later this year. We aim to bring together clinicians, image analysts, industry experts and AI-XR engineers to propose ideas and present novel solutions that have a potential to improve healthcare capabilities, reduce complexities in interpreting clinical data and improve patient care.
